"Romans Doxology" by John G. Elliot, released on When God is Praised (2006), written in 1989, based on Romans 11:33-36 Click Here to listen to "Romans Doxology" by John Elliot This song is based on Romans 11:33-36 which is the doxology (short hymn of praise) Paul expresses after some rather difficult passages earlier in Romans. It isn't word for word, but it pretty accurately declares what Paul was writing about in this passage. Why I recommend this song for worship- Many churches conclude their services with a song of doxology. It can be difficult to keep this part of the service fresh if you constantly sing the traditional "Doxology" song found in most hymnals. You know the one: "Praise God from whom all blessings flow, praise Him all creatures here below..." "All I Have Is Christ" by Jordan Kauflin, released on The Gathering by Sovereign Grace Music (2011) As I looked through my past Singable posts I was shocked to see that I hadn't featured this song yet. This has become one of my favorites as it causes us to reflect on the singular need every human has, Jesus Christ. Why I recommend this song for worship- What is the story of your salvation? What did God save you from? What has He saved you to? This song tells the spiritual side of all our salvation stories. We once were lost in darkest night, thinking we had the truth. We had no hope on our own, but because of the grace of God we have been saved from our sin and adopted as one of God's children. This is the heart of the gospel and truth we need to remind ourselves of daily. Singing these truths will implant them deep in our hearts. The chorus of this song really says it all: "Hallelujah! "Behold Our God" written by the Bairds, released by Sovereign Grace Music on Risen (2011) I heard this song originally on their Risen album, then at the Together for the Gospel conference in 2012. You can also listen to " Behold Our God " as a live version on the Together for the Gospel Live II album. Why I recommend this song for worship- Some of the most cherished moments in scripture are when God chooses to reveal Himself to one of His servants. The reaction, whether from Moses, Isaiah, Elijah, Job, or others, is always the same, speechless awe and wonder. This song captures that story. The verses of this song speak of the wonder of God's character, revealed through his work in the unfolding drama of redemtion's story. The chorus enables the worshiper to respond appropriately, singing "Come, let us adore Him." How else can we respond when confronted with who God is?
