Musical Encouragement #19- "Blessed Be Your Name"

One of the greatest sufferers in scripture is Job. In a matter of hours he went from being one of the most prosperous men in the world to one of the poorest. He lost his possessions, livelihood, and children and was left with a contentious wife and judgmental friends. Yet, in the midst of this, Job did not curse God. He understood that everything he was a steward of belonged to God, even his family. In the midst of discouragement he said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I shall return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." (Job 1:21) I pray that we can all have that same faith in the sovereign hand of the Lord. In light of this, our song for the day is a very familiar one, but one that continues to encourage: "Blessed Be Your Name"

Blessed Be Your Name
by Matt Redman

Blessed be Your name in the land that is plentiful,
Where Your streams of abundance flow, Blessed be Your name.
Blessed be Your name when I'm found by the desert place,
Though I walk through the wilderness, Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back to praise
And when the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say

Chorus:
Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name, when the sun's shining down on me,
When the world's all as it should be, blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name, on the road marked with suffering,
Though there's pain in the offering, blessed be Your name

Bridge:
You give and take away, You give and take away,
My heart will choose to say, Lord, blessed be Your name.
